Mr. Jack Whiddon

Mr. Jack Whiddon, 86, of Worth County, died on Sunday, May 26, 2024. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at Banks Funeral Home Chapel, interment will follow in the Red Oak Baptist Church Cemetery in Worth County. The Rev. Glenn Whiddon will officiate. Mr. Whiddon was born on April 16, 1938 in Worth County, to the late E.J. and Lesteree Wishum Whiddon. He had lived in Worth County all of his life, and was a veteran having served in the United States Air Force from 1957 until 1960. Mr. Whiddon was a farmer by trade but later retired from Cooper Tire Company in Albany. He enjoyed making peanut brittle, being outdoors, fixing things that were broken and researching his family's history. Mr. Whiddon loved spending time with his family and friends, especially with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was deacon and Sunday School teacher at Harmony Baptist Church, and was also a member of the Masonic Lodge 194 with a 61 year pin. Survivors include his children, Kurt Whiddon (Olivia) of Tifton, Jill Gibbs (Jason) of Poulan and Amie Cleghorn (LaDon) of Ashburn grandchildren, Stephanie Whiddon, Scott Whiddon (Alexis), Bobby Powell (Chelsey), Chris Powell (Courtney), Cadie Ball (Austin) and Corey Cleghorn (Kassidi); step-grandchildren, Raven Mullis and Jess Gibbs; great grandchildren, Austin Johnson, Kalvin Johnson, Jack Whiddon, Sutton and Skylen Powell, Cory’Ann, Colt, and Caver Powell, Luna Cleghorn and S & P; siblings, Glenn Whiddon, Jerry Ford and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Whiddon was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Nita Wade Whiddon on May 4, 2017; siblings. Felton Whiddon, Latrelle Tison and a great granddaughter, Miss Arya Cleghorn. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the service hour at Banks Funeral Home.
