Mr. Ernest Jack Knight

Ernest Jack Knight, 78, of Worth County passed away on March 12, 2025 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Visitation will be Friday, March 14th from 6-8 p.m at Banks Funeral Home. and Funeral Services will be held at Salem Baptist Church on Saturday, March 15th at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Nick Arbogast, Rev. Danny Story and Rev. Jackie Cabiness officiating. Jack was born September 29, 1946 to the late Bill K. and Vera Spence Knight in the house on the Hillhouse Farm. Coming full circle, he became the caretaker of this farm after his retirement. A graduate of Worth County High School, Jack joined the Army Reserves in 1967, the same year he married the love of his life, Cynthia, and was Honorably Discharged after serving six years. Jack began his long career as an Electrical Contractor in 1974, providing a wonderful life for his wife and four daughters. He successfully owned and operated Jack Knight Electric, Inc until his retirement in 2010. Jack loved the outdoors and especially the peace that he got from walking the woods hunting quail and running the dogs he had spent hours training. As the years went by, he found his other passion in Southern Gospel music. Jack was a member of both Living Water and Southern Majesty where he was able to travel and share his love of music with others. As a longtime member of Salem Baptist Church, he held many rolls. Jack was ordained as a Deacon in 1982 and served as an active Deacon for many years. He also held the position of Music Director and later became the Audio and Video Technician, where he served until his passing. Jack loved his family, and he will be greatly missed by his wife Cynthia, and his four daughters, Kulaya Ferguson (Wayne), Leslie Evans (Roy), Traci Young (Jeffrey), Kelli Hartsfield (Jamie) and his beloved, Gunsmoke watching dog, Maggie Mae. He was Papa to twelve grandchildren: Emily Dodson (Kevin), Tori Langston (Harrison), Kaitlyn Evans, Carrie Evans, Emma Evans, Carson Bryan, Elli Bryan, Trey Young, Cole Young, Hunter Hartsfield (Mary Grace), Madi Hartsfield and Colt Hartsfield; three great-grands: Paden Dodson, Henry Hartsfield and Jessica Bramlett. In addition to his wife and children, Jack is also survived by his sister, Virginia Pannell and his sister-in-law Kathy Knight. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his sisters: Willie Mae Knight, Rubye Davis (Leroy), Margaret McDonald (Royce), Gloria Hayes (Bill), and his brother Ross Knight. Serving as pallbearers will be Hunter Hartsfield, Colt Hartsfield, Trey Young, Kevin Dodson, Ross Knight, Jr and Joey Pendley.
