Mrs. Charlotte Whittington Douglas

Mrs. Charlotte Whittington Douglas, 66, of Sylvester died Saturday November 13, 2010 at her residence. The Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM on Tuesday at Banks funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in the Poulan Cemetery with Rev. Gordon Poole and Rev. Tim Mathews officiating. Mrs. Douglas was born in Moultrie, GA; to the late Walter Cleveland and Fannie Faye Burch Whittington. She was a lifelong resident of Worth County. Mrs. Douglas was a retired bus driver for the Southwest Georgia Community Action Council. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and was of the Pentecostal faith. Survivors include her children, Teresa Arbuckle (Melvin) of Tifton; Jody Douglas and his friend Brenda Waits of Cartersville; Lisa Weldon and her friend John L. Jackson of Sylvester; brothers, Walter Sammy Whittington of Omega; Stanley Whittington of Sylvester; Robin Whittington of Sycamore; Terry Whittington of Sylvester; sisters, Virginia Douglas of Leslie; Winnie Davis of Norman Park; Margie Dorsey of Sylvester; Sheila Douglas of Poulan; grandchildren, Brandon Watson, William Hand, Jonathan Hand, Brittany Weldon, Destin Weldon and Tearston Nelms, 3 great grandchildren. Mrs. Douglas was preceded in death by her husband, Hulen Joseph Douglas on September 22, 2001, a brother, William R. Whittington, a grandson, Robert Parker and a great grandchild, Brisha Hand. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 at Banks Funeral Home.
