Mrs. Virginia Myrtie Cox Powell, 78 of Sylvester, died on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Phoebe North Campus. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 1, 2021 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel, interment will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery. The Rev. Matt Greene, Rev. Charlie Brown and Rev. Jason Boyd will officiate. Mrs. Powell was born on March 3, 1942 in Worth County, GA., to the late Aaron "A.J." Jefferson and Myrtie Powell Cox. She had lived in Worth County all of her life and was a retired from Suburban Manufacturing Company after many years of service. Mrs. Powell enjoyed working in her yard and spending time with her friends and family, especially her grand and great grandchildren. She was a member of Unity Baptist Church where she served faithfully. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Rufus M. Powell of Sylvester; daughters, Terry Wilkerson (Steve) of Albany, GA., and Cindy McGee (Chris) of Sylvester; brothers, Ray Cox, Reggie Cox and Gordon Cox; sister, Carolyn Douglas; grandchildren, Miranda Baucom (Matt), Clete Wilkerson (Heather), Carrie Curtis (Loren) and Casey Knight (Ross); great grandchildren, Jones, Smith, and Kellar Baucom, Christopher McGahee, Graham Knight and Ava Knight. The family will receive friends on Friday from 10:00 AM until the service hour at Banks Funeral Home.
