Mrs. Myrtie Powell Cox

Mrs. Myrtie Powell Cox, 88, of Worth County, passed away on September 9, 2010 at her residence. Mrs. Cox was born on August 8, 1922 in Worth County. She was the daughter of the late Marion M. and Roxie Ann Gay Powell. Mrs. Cox was formerly employed with M & W Sportswear in Ashburn. She enjoyed any outdoor activities and cooking. Mrs. Cox loved her family and her church. She is survived by her daughters, Virginia Powell (Rufus) of Sylvester, Carolyn Douglas (Cowboy) of Ty Ty, sons, Ray Cox (Brenda) of Ashburn, Reggie Cox (Jackie) of Ashburn and Gordon Cox (Lydia), a brother, Bennie Powell, 10 Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great Great grandchildren. In addition to her parents Mrs. Cox was also preceded in death by her husband, Pastor Aaron Jefferson (A. J.) Cox on January 24, 1993 Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday September 12, 2010 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in New Bethel Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. Pastor Ed Waller and Brother Lamar Robinson will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday, 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Banks Funeral Home.
