Mrs. Mary Ethel Harris Bailey

Mrs. Mary Ethel Harris Bailey, 85, of Sylvester, died on Sunday, January 16, 2022 at Pine Shadows Retirement Manor. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel, interment will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery. The Rev. Jason Jones will officiate. Mrs. Bailey was born on March 1, 1936 in Rochelle, GA., to the late Truman Haschell and Ruby Odissa Nipper Harris. She had lived in Worth County most of her life and retired from Piggly Wiggly after 27 years, and previously employed with Sylvester Textile for 30 years. She was an avid Georgia Bulldogs, and Atlanta Braves fan, she enjoyed watching dirt track racing and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. Survivors include her children, Larry "Chubby" Bailey, and Marsha B. Ward all of Sylvester; grandchildren, Misty Montgomery (Bill), Kevin Bailey (Tonya), Mallory Garwood (Luke), Molly Emerson (Michael) and Daniel Bailey (Mallory); 9 great grandchildren; sisters, Betty Jo Smith and Brenda Ruff; a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bailey was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Uzeal Bailey, Sr., on July 18, 2013; 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
