Mr. Leon Mathews Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mr. Leon Mathews, 67, of Poulan died Monday November 7, 2011 at his residence. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday November 10, 2011 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in the Poulan Cemetery with Rev. J.W. Griffin and Rev. Clinton Fields officiating. Mr. Mathews was born on April 24, 1944 in Moultrie, GA to the late Eugene and Mary Elizabeth Pippins Mathews. He had lived most of his life in Worth County and was employed with M.C. L. B as an animal control officer for the past 29 years. Mr. Mathews served in the United States Army and was a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne. He attended New Life Tabernacle Church and loved his family. Survivors include a son Tim Mathews (Susie) of Sycamore, daughters Sheila Seabolt (Jimmy) of Poulan, Darlene Sheffield (Stevie) of Poulan; grandchildren, Nick Mathews (Mandi), Brandon Williams (Whittney), Jake Williams, Jamie Seabolt, Mathew Seabolt, Bethany Mathews and Morgan Moore; 7 great grandchildren; brothers Charles Mathews of Poulan, Bobby Lee Mathews of Foley, MN, David Mathews of Poulan and a sister Agnes M. Bolton of Niceville, FL. In addition to his parents Mr. Mathews was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn Douglas Mathews on December 30, 2000 and a sister Christine Archer. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Banks Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers are Nick Mathews, Jake Williams, Mathew Seabolt, Brandon Williams, Jamie Seabolt and Jerry Douglas, honorary pallbearers include Bethany Mathews and Morgan Moore.
