Mr. Joseph Junior "JJ" McKellar

Mr. Joseph Junior “J.J.” McKellar, 88, of Sylvester, Ga., died Tuesday Jan. 4, 2011, at his residence. Memorial services will be held on Friday, Jan. 7, at 4 p.m., in the Banks Funeral Home chapel. He was born on June 4, 1922, in Worth County Ga., to the late Joseph Henderson and Nellie Barfield McKellar. He had lived in Worth County most of his life. He retired in 1982 as a firefighter from Marine Corps Supply Center and he was of the Methodist faith. He was a United States Navy veteran of W.W.II, a Mason member of Worth Lodge #194 F & AM, Hasan Shrine Center Albany, Royal Order of the Moose Lodge #1158, Veteran of Foreign Wars Post #4825, and Royal Order of Jesters Court #159 Albany. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Lee McKellar, Frank McKellar, and Vernelle Boatwright. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Dorothy “Dot” Davis McKellar; sons, Wayne McKellar and wife Vicki of Moultrie, Jerry McKellar and wife Irene of Sylvester, Ga., and Berry McKellar and wife Norma of Moultrie; a daughter, Pam M. Stephens of Sylvester, Ga.; brothers, James McKellar of Bartow, Fla., Ben McKellar of Norman Park and Charles McKellar of Norman Park; sisters, Louise Spotanski of Norman Park, Dollie Crumley of Omega and Ann Edmondson of Tifton, Ga.; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
