Mr. John Allen McPhaul

October 25, 1947 - March 5, 2022

Mr. John Allen McPhaul, 74, of Poulan, died on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Tift Regional Medical Center. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, March 11, 2022 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel. A private family interment will follow in the Poulan Cemetery. Mr. Bill Boone will officiate. Mr. McPhaul was born on October 25, 1947 in Pensacola, FL., to the late John Gilchrist and Ruby Mae Petry McPhaul. He had lived in Worth County since 2007 and was a graduate of the University of Florida, class of 1971. Mr. McPhaul was a retired Cost Construction Engineer with CB&I. He enjoyed creative writing and was also very active in many Non-Profit Organizations. Mr. McPhaul was the current President and was also a founding member of the Best Friends Humane Society. He could be found playing Santa Claus at Family Connection, Worth County Elementary School, Chamber of Commerce, the local Christmas Parades and many other functions. Mr. McPhaul was the President of the Kiwanis Club, Chamber board member, Vice Chairman of the Board for the Housing Authority, and Star Reporter for the Sylvester Local and also served in many capacities with various other organizations. He was the Bingo Leader at Ed's Truck Stop, and was a positive light in the community. He loved spending time with people and ensured he gave a hundred percent with everything he did for the community; John always had a smile on his face and everyone that knew him, loved him. He will be sorely missed. Survivors include his wife, Michelle "Shelly" McPhaul of Poulan; step-children, Stephanie Kennedy and Missy Latona; grandchildren, Kaylie Jager, Hannah Jager, Isabelle Jager and Jennie Latona; great granddaughter, Chloe Fletcher; brother, Henry McPhaul; cousins, Bill Boone, Lynn Jones, Dan Stewart, Jim Stewart, Nancy Holmes, Rebecca Forbeck, Garrett Boone, Lora Beth Short, Zach Boone and our adopted Georgia Daughters. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Banks Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Best Friends Humane Society: P.O.
