Mr. Jerald Carter, 80, of Worth County, died Wednesday, February 16, 2022 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. The graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at the Kimball Methodist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Lori Anderson, Rev. Gordon Poole and Rev. Mickey Jacobs will officiate. Mr. Carter was born on February 4, 1942 in Colquitt County, to the late Lloyd and Nina M. Carter. He had lived in Worth County all of his life, and was a veteran having served in the United States National Guard. Mr. Carter was a life time farmer who loved the land. He represented the farm community by serving on many farm related committees. These included the Georgia Peanut Producer's Committee, and the Worth County committee for Farm Service Agency. Conservation was very important to Jerald which resulted in him being a member of the Soil and Water Conservation Committee and was a Soil and Water Conservationist of the year in 1985. He was chosen as the Worth County Senior Farmer of the year in 2001, and was also the 2014 Farm Bureau Outstand Georgia Peanut Farmer of the Year. Mr. Carter was the 1960 District Star Farmer of the year, and In 1976 he was the ABAC Master Farmer. He was a dedicated member of Kimball United Methodist Church, where he held numerous capacities. His faith was evident in his generosity and helpfulness to others. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Sherry Fowler Carter of Worth County; sons, David Carter and Joel Carter (Crystal) all of Worth County; grandchildren, Courtney Carter, Stewart Carter, Austin Carter and Brandon Elrod; great-grandchildren, Rylee, Emma Rae and Logan; sister, Kay Dunlap (Grady); nephew, Kip Dunlap. In addition to his parents, Mr. Carter was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Lisa Carter . The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the service hour at Kimball United Methodist Church Cemetery. Please sign our online guest registry at www.banksfh.com.
