Ms. Jean Harris Rick,70, of Brunswick died Thursday August 25, 2011 at Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday August 28, 2011 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, Rev. Buzz Yarborough will officiate. Ms. Rick was born November 24, 1940, in Sylvester to the late William Rodric "Bill" and Gladys Ruth Bennett Harris. Ms. Rick had resided in Albany, Athens and Brunswick where she retired from Driggers Reality. She was a former house mother in Athens, and a member of the Real Estate Board and the Georgia Realtors Association. She was an active member of the Saint Simmons Community Church, enjoyed music, dancing, gardening and was an animal advocate. Survivors include her sons, Steve Shiver (Sabrina) of Douglasville and Todd Shiver (Janet) of Ellensberg, WA., sisters, Teresa H. McDonald of Albany, Doris Huskey of Orlando, brothers, Sam Harris of Cordele and Frank Harris of Poulan, sister-in-law, Jan Harris, grandchildren, Blake Shiver, Elise Shiver, Andrew Shiver, Justin Shiver, Morgan Shiver, and a number of nieces and nephews In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother Rodric Harris The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Banks Funeral Home.
