Mrs. Imogene Shiver Bell

August 12, 1937 - December 6, 2021

Mrs. Imogene Shiver Bell, 84, of Sylvester, died on Monday, December 6, 2021 at the Willson Hospice House in Albany. The graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Hillcrest Cemetery. The Rev. Donnie Duncan will officiate. Mrs. Bell was born on August 12, 1937 in Worth County, GA., to the late J.C. and Dorothy Souter Shiver. She had lived in Worth County most of her life and was a homemaker. Mrs. Bell loved the solitude of her farm. Early on, she discovered peace and comfort on the back porch overlooking the lush cotton fields. She would read her Bible and watch as nosy deer and turkey flocked by. When she wasn't enjoying God's beauty, Jean could be found in the kitchen, baking delicious goodies for anyone who stopped by. She was famous for her pecan cream cakes and "white trash". And of course, there was always a blue pitcher of sweet tea ready to be served. Jean and her late husband, Robert, enjoyed camping throughout the North Georgia Mountains. The copper and gold of autumn were their favorite to see. They also ventured outside of state lines, traveling extensively throughout the United States. Survivors include her children, Fred Bell (Felicia), and Robin Hortman (Ricky) all of Sylvester; grandchildren, Dana Hortman and Jacie Hortman; great grandchildren, Alex Bell, Andrew Bell and Lexi Bell; a host of extended family members; caregivers, David Farley, Connie Sizemore and Gloria Hope. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bell was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Edward Bell, Jr., on March 28, 2007; grandson, Cory Bell; sisters, Bonnie Elaine Shiver, and Sherrie Kuck; brother-in-law, Kenny Kuck. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Banks Funeral Home. The family would like to extend their gratitude to both, Phoebe Putney Medical Staff and Willson Hospice House Staff for their wonderful care.
