Mrs. Doris Patterson Carter Berry

Doris Patterson Carter Berry, 86, of Sylvester died Monday January 31, 2011 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. The funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday February 2, 2011 at New Hope Baptist Church with interment to follow in the Church Cemetery with Dr. Mike Carter and Rev. Tim Bozeman officiating. Mrs. Berry was born March 30, 1924 in Sumner, GA, to the late James Alfred and Myrtie Leola Beaty Patterson and lived in Worth County most of her life. She retired from Sylvester Textile as a quality control supervisor. She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church and a former Sunday School Teacher. Mrs. Berry was very involved in her church and loved making blackberry and peach jam. Survivors include a daughter, Betty Sue Story of Sylvester; son, Thomas E. (Tommy) Carter (Sue) of Aiken, Sc, grandsons, Brian Carter (Nanci), Ty Carter, Tim Bozeman (Amy), and Ted Bozeman (Sandy); granddaughter, Tanya Grimsley (Michael), 14 great grandchildren and a brother, Lamar Patterson of Sumner. Mrs. Berry was preceded in death by her husband Walter Earl Carter who died on August 13, 1973. The family will receive friends on Tuesday (TODAY) from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Banks Funeral Home.
