Those of us left here on earth will miss her terribly, but rejoice in knowing that she is with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She must be so happy to see her Mother, Daddy, and Mac. And we know that she is talking to them with her hearts content. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 28, 2020, at Banks Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Poulan Cemetery in the Hart Family plot. The Rev. John Lewis will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Banks Funeral Home. Serving as Pallbearers will be Ashton Andrews, Chance Andrews, Tripp Greene, Chris Castleberry, Milan Massey and Jason Owens. The Lord came first in her life. She knew that the Lord had truly touched and blessed her. Throughout her lifetime and in her daily journey, she reflected God’s goodness and loving kindness to all. Charlene was a longtime member of New Bethel Freewill Baptist Church in Worth County. She lived a simple life and needed little. She loved to read her Bible. Charlene was born August 15, 1956, in Worth County to the late George Wright Hart and Lillie Key Hart. Her father was a steward of the land who worked as a farmer. Her mother was a true homemaker and was the center of their family. Charlene and her 5 brothers and sisters grew up in a Christian home and followed in their parent’s footsteps. Charlene was like both her daddy and mother, she loved the outdoors, working in her yard, cleaning house, and cooking like “Miss Lillie.” She loved to tell the story about the Christmas she got a little broom and dust pan so that she could follow her mother around the house cleaning. She had a solid work ethic, having worked in retail, as a caregiver of the sick and elderly, at Ed’s Truck Stop, and as a housekeeper. She had a heart of gold, loved people and never met a stranger. And she loved to talk and tell stories about her youth! Charlene left a legacy of love for her family. Her only child, Jason and his wife Carrie McBrayer Doggett, their children Hayley, Trent, Sarah and Travis, all of Brookfield, were the center of her heart and her pride and joy. She loved spending Christmas Eve with them and on Christmas morning watching while they opened gifts. Jason loved her Apple Pie and Carrie her Red Velvet Cake which she carried to them often. The grandchildren often spent the weekend with her and she did just what they wanted to do. The “boys” loved to go to Zaxby’s and Pizza Hut and watching “Tom and Jerry” cartoons. The “girls” loved for Grandma to carry them to get their nails done. If she heard them mention something they needed, Grandma to the rescue. Travis loved quarters, so she always carried a supply. Included in her family were Max and Maggie, her dogs that she adored. Her brothers and sisters are Nancy H. Kinard of Colquitt, Charlotte Hart of Cartersville, Monnie and Vicki J. Hart of Sumner community, Craig Hart of Salem community, and Michelle H. and Scott Andrews of Salem community, all of whom survive. She told many stories of their childhoods about helping their father with crops like tobacco and using a water hose as a swimming pool. “Miss Lillie” told her to look after Michelle and that was her responsibility because she was so much younger. She spent a lot of time in the kitchen preparing food for her family and friends. Countless people received delicious pound cakes from her. Last Christmas all her extended family met at her home in Silver Lake Circle. A wonderful time was had by all reminiscing and visiting. Everybody left full of great food and memories. Charlene is also survived by the Jason’s Father, Jerry Doggett of Sylvester. She was preceded in death by her parents and her special love, James D. (Mac) McDowell III who died November 9, 2014. Banks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
