Mrs. Bernice Tidwell Duckworth, 87, of Poulan died Thursday September 1, 2011 at her residence. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday September 4, 2011 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery with Rev. Wilbur Harris officiating. Mrs. Duckworth was born in Donley County, Texas on May 4, 1924 to the late James Elmon and Margaret Mills Tidwell. She has lived in Poulan since 1975 moving here from Amarillo, TX. Mrs. Duckworth was a homemaker and formerly operated a Beauty Shop in Amarillo, TX. She was a member of Sylvester Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors include daughters, Barbara J. Spears (Chip) of Poulan, Pamela M. Ayers (Sidney) of Poulan; son, Tony G. Duckworth (Lee) of Lake Blackshear; sisters, Grace T. Aultman of East Moline, IL, Betty T. Nelms of Poulan, Glenda T Robbins of Mt. Airy, NC; brother William R. "Bill" Tidwell of LaGrange; grandchildren; Cindy Craven (Howard), Teresa Harrison Bass, Michael Harrison, Toney Chambless (Jay), Robert Duckworth (Etsco), Scott Cuppett (Julie); 10 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Banks Funeral Home.
