Mrs. Barbara Hardy White

Mrs. Barbara Hardy White, 83 of Sylvester died Tuesday September 13, 2011 at her residence. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday September 15, 2011 at First Baptist Church in Sylvester with interment to follow in the Tempy Cemetery with Dr. Ben Bush, Rev. Earnie Pirkle, Rev. Jerry Kennedy and Rev. Kenneth Kicklighter officiating. Mrs. White was born on August 10, 1928 in Ashburn to the late Jesse Buren and Susan Cassandra Clarke Hardy. She was reared in Sycamore, where she graduated from Sycamore High School. Mrs. White was a graduate of both Norman Junior College and Bessie Tift College. She taught at Bethel Elementary, Palmyra Elementary and Northside Elementary Schools and was a member of the retired Teachers Association. She was an active member of First Baptist Church, W.M.U., the choir and a member of the Faith Sunday School Class. Mrs. White enjoyed church, friends, and traveling. Survivors include her sister, Marjorie Brooks (Troy) of Ashburn; brother, Charles Hardy (Jackie) of Sycamore; sister-in-law, Marjorie Ford of Camilla; a number of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Mrs. White was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Joseph (E. J.) White on December 15, 2010. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1:00 PM until service hour at First Baptist Church Social Hall.
