Mrs. Sara Lou McCarty Senkbeil

Mrs. Sarah Lou McCarty Senkbeil, 86, of Sylvester died on her wedding anniversary August 26, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery. The Rev. Mike Carter will officiate. Mrs. Senkbeil was born in Worth County on her daddy's birthday, October 19, 1928 to the late Homer Lee and Ida Mae Shurley McCarty. She owned and operated Jack and Jill Nursery and Kindergarten and taught swimming lessons for many years in Sylvester. Mrs. Senkbeil loved to read, crochete, and work word puzzles. She was known for her delicious made-from-scratch whole hog head brunswick stew. Nothing gave Mrs. Sarah more joy then to give family members laminated obituaries to be used as Bible bookmarks. Mrs. Senkbeil was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sylvester. At age 82, she published her first book, Company's Coming. She enjoyed having book signings at different libraries and businesses in South Georgia. Mrs. Senkbeil loved meeting people and driving to new places. Survivors include her children, Paul Senkbeil, Sr. (Sharon) of Valdosta, Brad Senkbeil (Jeannine) of Sumner, Dale Senkbeil of Tampa, FL and Jeff Senkbeil of Lee County; grandchildren, Paul Senkbeil, Jr. (LeeAnn), John Senkbeil (Dillard), Christie Garrison, Kevin Garrison, Matt Senkbeil (Holly), Seth Senkbeil (Amy), Kelly S. Cooper (Justin), Ben Senkbeil, Nikki S. Jennings, (Troy), Jesse Bessire, Christopher Morton and family, Justin Senkbeil, Heather Senkbeil, Jeffery Senkbeil, Morgan Senkbeil; great grandchildren, Lillie Senkbeil, Mia Austin, Jay Austin, Sully Senkbeil, Sweden Senkbeil, Jake Lloyd, Bryton Puckett, Bradford Senkbeil, Addison Senkbeil, Colby Cooper, Castin Cooper, Liam Jennings, Collin Jennings, Daisy Morton and Chase Morton; sister-in-laws, Betty Ann McCarty, Louise Hansford, Jewell Adams and Elizabeth Gwines. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Senkbeil was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Newton Spencer Senkbeil on July 6, 2009; brothers, Johnnie Lee McCarty, Jack McCarty; sister, Jewell McCarty Senkbeil.
