Mr. David R. King

In the early morning hours of Tuesday, May 5, 2015, David Ray King, 59, went home to his Lord after a short battle with Adenocarcinoma cancer. He was surrounded with love by his family. Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, May 9, 2015, at the First Baptist Church with interment to follow in the Shingler Cemetery. The Rev. Mylan Brookins, Pastor of Sylvester Lighthouse Church of God, will officiate. David was born on September 22, 1955, in Adel, GA to the late Denmark and Beatrice Taylor King. He had lived in Poulan community since 1984 when he married his beloved wife, Peggy. David loved the Lord and was a faithful member of the Sylvester Lighthouse Church of God where he led singing. He enjoyed studying the Bible and being with his church family. He was very gifted musically, playing the piano and guitar, writing songs, and singing with his beautiful voice. David was employed with Worth County Public Works where he drove a dump truck. It was jokingly said that nobody else could drive his truck because he kept it so clean! He loved his job and friends at work. Special thanks go to his many coworkers for their support during his illness and especially for those who so generously gave their sick leave in David's name. Pallbearers will be Worth County Public Works employees John Merritt, David Farley, Jimmy Parker, Frank Palmer, Ralph Duckworth, Rodney Hill, Ray McDonald, Marsh Coxwell, Scott Raby, James Morris, Ulysses Jackson, Donald Fulmore, Ross Wilburn, Hoyt Dorminey, Daniel Jefferson, Greg Jackson, Bob McDaniel, Kay Faulk and Andi-gale Stripling. David had worked as a long haul truck driver and was also a stonemason. He took pride in his work and did the stone work on the exterior wall of his and Peggy's home. He had beautiful eyes, smile, and hair! He had countless friends in the community. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and baby brother and he was loved in return. Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Peggy York King of Poulan; daughters, Victoria Hope Walls, her husband, Tracy, and their daughters, Georgia Rose Walls and Alyssa Walls, all of Sylvester; Ginger Spieker Shear and her husband, Ray, of Sylvester; sons, Timothy William Spieker of Calhoun; Michael Paul Spieker, his wife, Michelle, and their children, Jesse Gray, Timothy James Spieker and Sara Ann Spieker, all of Poulan; sister, Martha Connell and her husband, Scott, of Bainbridge; brother, Glen King and his wife, Jana, of Mobile, AL and several nieces and nephews. For those desiring, memorials may be made to Sylvester Lighthouse Church of God, 606 Ashburn Hwy, Sylvester, GA 31791 or to First Baptist Church of Sylvester, P.O.
