Mr. Bobby Leon Bown

Mr. Bobby Leon Brown, 83, of Sumner died Friday, October 16, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his family. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, October 19, 2015 at Terrell Baptist Church with interment to follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery. The Rev. Bob Halstead and the Rev. Brad Hughes will officiate. Mr. Brown was born on December 13, 1931 in Worth County to the late Haywood Lee and Naomi Jutson Lunsford Brown. He attended Sylvester High School, where he met and later married his high school sweetheart, Doris Parks Brown. Mr. Brown served as a heavy duty mechanic for 4 years in the United States Navy. He was a member of Terrell Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for 52 years and church treasurer for 33 years. Mr. Brown belonged to many organizations, such as Young Farmers, Wildlife Club, Farm Bureau of Worth County and the National Farmers Organization. He spent his life at his calling, and that was as a farmer. Mr. Brown enjoyed leisure time fishing and hunting and playing all sports. In later years he got the most pleasure watching his grandchildren play. His relationship with God and family was always the most important thing to him. Mr. Brown is survived by his wife of 62 years, Doris Brown of Sumner; son and his wife Phil and Kim Brown of Sumner; daughters and their husbands, Connie and Ken Spurlin of Tifton, Gina and Mark Mitchell of Doerun; his pride and joy, his grandchildren, Jamie and Marcy Spurlin, Mitch and Kristen Mitchell, Julianne and Austin Moretz, Courtney Mitchell, Chance Mitchell, Zach Brown, Madi Mitchell, Megan Brown, Bobby Ray Mitchell; great grandchildren, Spurlin Moretz and Gatlin Spurlin; sisters, Jean Brown of Doerun, Betsy Meredith of Camilla; brothers, Carol (Mervin) Brown of Doerun, Wayne (Bobbie) Brown of Anderson City and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Mr. Brown was preceded in death by a younger brother, Hal Brown. Proudly serving as active pallbearers will be his grandsons, Jamie Spurlin, Mitch Mitchell, Chance Mitchell, Zach Brown, Bobby Ray Mitchell and Austin Moretz; honorary pallbearers will be Mack Sutton, Steve Wilson, Terrell Baptist Church Deacons and the Men's Sunday School Class. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Banks Funeral Home.
