Betty Jean White Wright

Mrs. Betty Jean Wright, 91, of Warwick, died peacefully at home on Thursday, April 30, 2026. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 11, 2026, at the Warwick Methodist Church with interment following in the Church Cemetery. The Rev. Sam Vernon will officiate. Mrs. Wright was born on September 2, 1934 in Worth County, to the late Richard Elkin White and Agnes Irene Raines. She lived in Worth County all her life and attended College at Georgia Southwestern University where she graduated with a teaching degree. Betty Jean was a public school teacher at Warwick until she became a full time mother. Mrs. Wright was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She always put others first and always sacrificed for others her whole life. Betty Jean was an exceptional cook and baker, a proficient seamstress, played piano, and a lover of scrapbooking and other hobbies. She enjoyed providing for her family, friends and always stepped up to provide for anyone in need in her community. She was a dedicated member of the Warwick Methodist Church, the church choir, the United Methodist Women and the South Georgia Conference. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School and Bible school in summer, as well as taking the Church children on field trips. Betty Jean was predeceased by her husband of seventy years, William Bowen Wright, whom she met at the age of six in elementary school. She was predeceased by her sister and best friend, Mary Joyce Whitacre, brothers, Donald White, Larry White and John White and is survived by her brothers James Alton White and Denver White. Betty Jean is survived by sons, James William Wright (Amy) of Warwick, Melvin B. Wright (Racheal) of Windermere, FL and Timothy Glenn Wright of Warwick; grandchildren, Angela Susan Chapman (Violet), Lee Bowen Wright (Amber), Robert Glenn Wright (Kelsey), James William Wright, Melanie Marie Wright, Jessica Renee Segovia and Ryan Glenn Slaybaugh; great grandchildren Fletcher Bowen Wright, Robert Hampton Wright, Scarlett Grace Wright, Bowen Griffin Wright, Aubrey Lynn Stoyell, Allie Kay Segovia, Peyton Rene Segovia and Adalyn Rain Segovia. The family will receive friends on Monday from 10:00AM until the service hour at Warwick Methodist Church. Banks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
